Rue Mouffetard – 5ème

Rue Mouffetard used to be one of the great market streets in Paris. Despite the small town atmosphere, this narrow cobblestone street is quite busy and touristy, but not least interesting! It’s filled with bakeries, specialty shops, creperies, low cost shops and lots of fruit stalls.

All the way up on Rue Mouffetard at the junction of 2 other streets (Rue Lacépède and Rue Cardinal-Lemoine) you will find the charming and vibrant Place de la Contrescarpe with a few more options of restaurants that help to set the festive mood all day long. Pick a table on the terrace and enjoy the Parisian way of life!

La Droguerie du Marais

Et voilà my favorite crêperie in town: La Droguerie du Marais at Rue de Rosiers! It’s a cute little place, literally a hole on the wall, from where you can watch the nice attendants perfectly executing all kind of salty and sweet crêpes to go. If you are lucky enough to find an avaliable seat at the counter, go for it and watch the preparation!

I’m aware of the top crêperies list, but I believe there are more ingredients than the food itself to be considered in this case. How we feel and how we are treated may be just as important. And I always feel very welcome at this cozy place.

It’s always a pleasure to have crêpes with thé à la menthe (mint tea) while practicing my (poor) French with the nice guys who work here! There can be a considerable line, but it´s worth the wait!

  • Metro: Saint Paul – line 1

Café Marly is nestled under the arcades of Louvre Museum and it is set in a typical Parisian atmosphere, with sumptuous decor that reminds us of Louvre as a royal residence. with its Napoleon III dining rooms and a beautiful terrace overlooking the Cour Napoléon (the museum courtyard).

Don’t be surprised if you bump into any famous! Models, fashion designers and journalists are often seen here. The terrace is ideal for an after-Louvre break! Enjoy a cup of coffee and the stunning view of the Pyramid!
