Dear Autumn,
Now that you are almost gone and I’m watching these pics from last trip, I’d like to tell you how nice it was meeting you! Didn’t know how you were going to treat me when I first got there for 10 more days in town and I confess I was expecting nothing else than cold weather and cloudy days…

But thankfully you went above and beyond to surprise and delight all of your October guests and I must say that I’ve never seen Paris more beautiful than it looked those days!

Looking forward to see you again next year! Bisous :)

Wall of Love – Le mur des je t’aime

17 de November de 2015 — by Carol Pio Pedro0

The dramatic images from last Friday, when Paris was attacked by terrorists, have been stuck in our heads since then.  During those hours of terror we all felt powerless, afraid and brokenhearted. But as the days go by, the way that French people are facing it is admirable and inspiring: they won´t let their lives be influenced by terrorists and are bringing joie de vivre back.

At a time that walls are built as boundaries and used to segregate people, a particular wall especially proposes reconciliation and union among people in the simplest way – and yet the most difficult – love. The work “Le mur des je t’aime” by artist Frédéric Baron and calligrapher Claire Kito is permanently exposed in the hidden little square Jehan Rictus, Place des Abbesses, Montmartre.

“The wall of love” was built on an area of 40 square meters, consisting of 612 tiles on which the phrase “I love you” is featured 311 times in 250 languages and dialects. The red splashes of color symbolize pieces of broken hearts, that the wall intends to gather. A work dated from 2000. Fifteen years have passed and this issue is more important than ever.

Jardin des Plantes

Located in the 5ème at Quartier Latin, Jardin des Plantes is the main botanical garden in France. Besides the botanical school and the hothouses which holds a great variety of plants from all over the world, Jardin des Plantes also houses 4 buildings which together form the National Museum of Natural History, and a small zoo (the second oldest one in Europe).

As you can see, there are several recreation options inside this public space, but in my oppinion the main attraction is still the great garden with colorful flowers and decorative plants arranged perfectly aligned.

It attracts many visitors but not as much as some other gardens in town. I´ve never been into the museums, but only the walk through the flower plantation is very inspiring and worth it.

Jardin des Plantes is just a few steps from La Grande Mosquée de Paris (The Great Mosque of Paris) that, besides its size, is a hidden gem! Another Parisian delight that is not on the average tourist’s checklist, but it definitely should!

Where:  Jardin des Plantes – 57 Rue Cuvier, 75005 Paris

How much: Jardin des Plantes – free admission |

How much: Museums – check on the official website

Metro stations: Gare d’Austerlitz (ligne 5) | Censier Daubenton (ligne 7), Jussieu (ligne 10) or Gare d’Austerlitz (RER C Paris-Austerlitz)
