Packing for Paris in Fall | October

My next trip is coming up and today I started to choose the clothes and accessories to wear in Paris in Fall. This is the first time I´m visiting the city in October. So first I checked the forecast, the average temperature, probability of precipitation and also checked some articles and lists of what the Parisians wear in this time of the year. I gathered all the information, adapted suggestions to my taste and style and prepared a list, that I now share with you.

When I travel I choose convenience over quantity. It’s not easy to leave some items behind, but I don´t like carrying on heavy luggages up and down…

Nowadays, I prefer to try my clothes on and choose the outfit at home rather than taking care of it during the trip. Well, today was the day. I´ve chosen pretty much everything, but will finish packing one day prior to departure, because I´ve been tracking the weather forecast daily and might have surprises… I do it on www.weather.com

I saw that in October the days are gray and the temperature is between 46ºF and 59ºF and the probability of raining is high … Adding this information to convenience and comfort I look for, here is my list for 10 days:

  • Leather jackets: 3 …  Neutral colors to throw with dresses and denim;
  • Dresses: 8 … neutral, printed, long sleeve, short sleeve. They fit well with leather jackets and tights.
  • Sweaters and cardigans: 5 … Basic colors to be worn over the dresses and underneath the jackets;
  • Tights: I’m taking my black ones: 40 denier and wool tights, just in case;
  • Coat: 1 black, for colder days or a special occasion;
  • Shoes: 2 flat shoes, 1 espadrille, 1 high heel.
  • Scarves: 5 … neutral and colorful ones
  • Denim: 1 skinny – it goes well with everything!
  • Purses: 2 crossbody bags
  • Sunglasses: 2

Other than that, I always have pills for nausea, headache and fever. I do not bring many jewels and bijoux… Makeup, just the basics (I always buy some more during the trip). And I use Sealbag to protect my luggages!

Bisous,

Carol

Prepaid SIM card in France

If you wanna share your moments in Paris with the world in real time and don´t want to miss a thing from your tour, you can´t waste your time by getting into every Starbucks to use wifi! There are many options for prepaid plans!

I got it from Orange, one of the largest operators of mobile and internet services in Europe, and chose the “max” plan valid for a month that costs €30 and includes unlimited call + SMS in France and 2gb mobile internet. I found the service very good and recommend it. The only problem I had was in finding an Orange store that had not ran out of the SIM card. On a Monday afternoon I went to two stores (one on Champs-Elysées and another on Boulevard Vaugirard) and both told me that they would receive it in a couple of days… I couldn´t wait that long, so I had to search for other stores in town and finally managed to buy it at Orange – Place La Madeleine.

Great service! The attendant spoke good English and helped me to set up everything, so I left the store connected to the world again! A few weeks later I ran out of internet before my plan was over, so I easily purchased a recharge card in one of those tobacco shops.

Tip: even using the new chip, you do not have to change the previously number registered in Whatsapp. When you open the app, click to continue with the old number instead of inserting a new one, then you will have access to all pre-existing contacts and also add new ones.
